World Drowning Prevention Day event
To mark World Drowning Prevention Day, DPA, along with our friends at Surf Life Saving New Zealand, is hosting a World Drowning Prevention Day event at the Karanga Plaza Pool in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
- Date: Saturday 25 July 2026
- Time: 12pm–2:30pm
- Location: Karanga Plaza Pool
Throughout the afternoon we will have team members in the pool practising floating techniques, as well as Public Rescue Equipment (PRE) demonstrations – with those that are keen to have a go themselves able to during our fun ‘Have a Throw’ sessions!
With prizes up for grabs, and lots of activities to learn from and take part in, there’ll be something for the whole whānau to enjoy. There will also be an opportunity on the day to donate towards DPA’s lifesaving work, supporting our Float first and Flotation first activities.
To wrap up the day, those feeling particularly brave will be called on to join our team in the pool for a group float – raising awareness of the preventable nature of drowning and marking the end of our World Drowning Prevention Day event.
We’d love to see you at the Karanga Plaza Pool this World Drowning Prevention Day in your best blue outfits learning how to respond in a water-related emergency.
Let’s unite to turn the tide on drowning. Together we can make a difference.
