DPA delivers world-first Water Competence I workshop

DPA celebrated an important world-first milestone last month, with staff from Be Washed and GWE Consulting Engineers becoming the first participants to complete our Developing Water Competence (DWC) workshop with IPSQA CorePass® Standard 7081:2026 Water Competence I certification.

As an official IPSQA Accredited Testing Centre, our workplace water-safety training now provides more than practical skills and knowledge, giving successful candidates an independently quality-assured credential recognising their foundational water competence.

The Water Competence I standard has been developed through collaboration between DPA and IPSQA, bringing together research, operational experience and the realities faced by people who work around, on or in water. It provides workplaces with a clear and consistent way to assess and record essential water-safety capability, while keeping the training relevant to the environments and risks their people actually encounter.

For participants, successful certification is recorded within the IPSQA credentialling system, creating a portable record of competence that can be verified through a QR code on their certificate. This allows employers and other organisations to quickly confirm a person’s certification and provides a stronger level of assurance around workplace water-safety capability.

The first delivery with Be Washed and GWE Consulting Engineers represents the start of the next phase for DPA’s workplace training, with Water Competence I certification now available through future DWC courses.

If your staff work around, on or near water, now is a good time to review whether they have the practical skills and verified competence to respond when something goes wrong.

Book your workplace in for a DPA Developing Water Competence course today and give your team practical water-safety skills backed by internationally recognised certification.
